Do You Understand Towing and Payload Capacity?

At First Choice Honda, we've found that many truck owners don't understand the difference between towing and payload capacity. We understand how critical it is to not overload your truck by accidentally interchanging the two ratings.

The towing capacity, which is generally larger than the carrying capacity, refers to the weight that can be towed behind the vehicle, either with a hitch in the bed of the truck or off of the back. On the other hand, carrying capacity refers to anything that is being carried between the bumpers of the truck. This includes passengers and anything that is in the bed. Trying to carry too much can damage the chassis of your truck.
